About the Role

La Maluk Village Early Childhood Center is looking for a responsible and caring Nanny, Childcare & Hygiene Assistant to support young children with their daily routines while helping maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with educators, assistants, and the center’s nurse. The role combines childcare support, meal assistance, cleaning, hygiene, and general preparation of the center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist young children with changing clothes, diapers, and underwear while maintaining privacy, dignity, and proper hygiene.
  • Help children during meals and provide support with everyday routines.
  • Prepare sleeping areas for daytime naps and change or collect bed linen and other textiles for laundry.
  • Prepare food receiving and serving areas before meals.
  • Receive and distribute prepared meals according to the daily menu and number of children present.
  • Work with educators and assistants when serving meals.
  • Pay close attention to children’s food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal requirements.
  • Check labels on special meals and ensure they are not mixed with regular food.
  • Immediately report food discrepancies, signs of illness, injuries, or possible allergic reactions to the educator and nurse.
  • Clean and disinfect tables, chairs, children’s dishes, trays, and food-serving areas before and after meals.
  • Carry out daily wet cleaning of classrooms, sleeping areas, toilets, corridors, and common spaces.
  • Clean areas after meals, lessons, games, creative activities, and naps.
  • Regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, tables, chairs, handrails, switches, shelves, and play surfaces.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, changing tables, and other sanitary equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect toys, educational materials, and soft furnishings according to the center’s schedule.
  • Keep floors clean and promptly remove spilled food, liquids, and other hazards.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and replace garbage bags when required.
  • Use designated cleaning equipment separately for toilets, group rooms, and food preparation or serving areas.
  • Follow cleaning and disinfection schedules and complete required checklists.
  • Monitor supplies including soap, towels, wipes, diapers, hygiene products, detergents, disinfectants, and garbage bags.
  • Inform the nurse or relevant staff when supplies need replenishing or when sanitary issues are identified.
  • Store cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials safely and away from children.
  • Follow all applicable hygiene, food safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, and child protection procedures.

Before the center opens, the successful candidate will complete an internal preparation and training period. This includes:

  • Getting familiar with the team and center facilities
  • Learning cleaning and disinfection schedules
  • Understanding food-serving procedures
  • Reviewing hygiene and safety standards
  • Participating in general cleaning and preparation
  • Organizing work areas before children arrive

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Previous experience as a nanny, caregiver, care assistant, kindergarten cleaning employee, housekeeper, or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children is an advantage.
  • A good understanding of personal hygiene and sanitary cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and serving practices.
  • Strong attention to children’s food allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform active cleaning and childcare-support duties.
  • A neat, responsible, and organized approach to work.
  • Basic English skills sufficient to understand instructions and communicate with colleagues.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality and follow the center’s internal policies and child protection procedures.
